The Corona 2000 is not for everybody who drives. Because the Corona 2000 was not meant to be mere transportation. It is for a few to whom the act of driving is an adventure. The Corona 2000 produces a quickening of pulse as you feel it go. And does it go! From 0 to 100 KPH in 15.5 seconds.
But power isn’t all there is in a Corona 2000. While it is true that the Corona 2000 is the most powerful 2-door Hardtop, packing 110 HP Gross (SAE), it consumes less gas than you’d expect from a 2-liter engine, coming up to about 11 kms. to a liter.
Engine design, body weight give the Corona 2000 stability even at topspeed. Its body weight, proportionately balanced with its power, virtually eliminates vibration so that even at a maximum speed of 160 KPH, the 2000 moves with a smoothness you’d think it’s just cruising. Add to this, the standard equipment put together to keep its power in control such as pinion steering, servo-assisted disc brakes, 4-speed transmission and road-hugging suspension.
All these fine engineering features demand a bit more dash in styling. To start with, a chrome “2000” emblem at the back. And a modified Corona emblem to go with it. A more squarish hood highlighted with a redesigned grille. Re-styled wheel covers. A plushier wall-to-wall carpet color-coordinated with a more sporty, striped fabric upholstery. Squared front seat with standard detachable headrest. Plus all these luxury appointments that come to you as standard: reclining bucket seats with foot-operated flip down mechanism, Radio, Electric clock, Cigarette lighter, Ashtray, Console box.
